So many other uses too like drawing circles, setting out octagons, stairs, bay window hip roofs, hip drop and backing angles, herringbone strutting, and even checking if things are square!

You can then use the straight edge to place the pitch board onto to get the next rise, then either flip the pitch board round to set the next going or use a roofing square if you have one to hand.
