A judge has thrown out a felony indictment against a former Georgia prosecutor involving Ahmaud Arbery’s death.

A judge has dismissed charges against former Glynn County District Attorney Jackie Johnson, ending her trial on accusations of abusing power to protect the men who killed Ahmaud Arbery.

A former district attorney in Georgia testified in her own defense Tuesday regarding her handling of the 2020 killing of Ahmaud Arbery. Jackie Johnson faces trial in Brunswick for her actions related to the case. "She told me that I'm a monster. She said I'm a monster."

On Wednesday, the judge in Jackie Johnson’s trial threw out the last remaining charge against her. The charge accused Johnson of violating her oath of office. On Monday, a judge granted the Defense’s motion for directed verdict of acquittal on the other charge against Johnson.

Jackie Johnson testified she removed herself from the case after learning the shooting involved the son of Greg McMichael, a former investigator for her office.

A former district attorney is on trial for allegedly abusing her power to shield the men who killed Ahmaud Arbery, though she insists she knew few details until a video of the shooting surfaced.
