Google Maps will soon rename the "Gulf of Mexico" to the "Gulf of America," a decision that has faced opposition from Mexican officials.

Google said the name changes, which also includes using Mount McKinley, will happen when Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is updated.

Google Maps said it would change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America once it is officially updated in the U.S. Geographic Names System.

Millions of people use Google Maps around the world. So, when change comes that people don’t like, they come out in droves to complain. This is what happened with a new change that Google issued. According to a new report,

The "Ask about place" chip will let users ask Gemini questions about locations in real time. The feature is in beta and not widely available yet but could roll out soon. Out of all Google services, Google Maps has seen the least integration with Gemini.
