Australia batsman Usman Khawaja has condemned a radio station's decision to drop cricket journalist Peter Lalor from its coverage of the Sri Lanka test series over social media posts related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

SEN radio sacked cricket writer and commentator Peter Lalor during Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka due to his social media activity supporting Palestine and resharing posts that accuse Israel of ‘genocide’.

Cricket Australia conducted it's annual Awards ceremony, as the 2025 edition saw the likes of Travis Head and Annabel Sutherland win the big ones. 13 awards were handed out, with two of them being the joint-winners. The BBL and WBBL awards were shared by Cooper Connolly & Glenn Maxwell; and Jess Jonassen & Ellyse Perry respectively.

While Head was a favourite for the top men's prize, also claiming the one-day international player award, Sutherland was third in the one-day voting and a distant sixth for the women's T20I international award.

Dinesh Chandimal has scored an unbeaten 63 as Sri Lanka struggled to 136-5 at lunch on Day 3 in reply to Australia's imposing first innings of 654 in the first cricket test.

Australia are not yet a great team but completing a series sweep in Sri Lanka would push them closer, according to spin bowler Nathan Lyon.
