DAVOS, Switzerland — United States President Donald Trump on Thursday directly blamed Vladimir Putin for the ongoing war in Ukraine, a day after threatening massive tariffs and sanctions on Russian products if he fails to make a deal to end the conflict.

Donald Trump campaigned heavily on the promise that he would end the war, by claiming the Russian invasion of Ukraine would've never happened if he was still president, and that he could end the war in a day.

Asked if a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine is on the horizon, President Trump told members of the World Economic Forum, “you’re going to have to ask Russia.” Trump also stated the war would not have started had he been in office.
