Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has addressed potential Switch 2 shortages at launch, and is aiming to meet high demand.

First-party games like Mario Kart and Metroid Prime could be joined by some absolute belters from the likes of Microsoft and Atlus.

The president of Nintendo says Switch sales will continue as long as there’s demand, but dwindling sales suggests that won't be for long.

Given all of the apparent changes to the Joy-Con Controllers with the Nintendo Switch 2, such as the rumored ability to use them like a PC mouse, a true follow-up to 1-2 Switch could be a very smart way for Nintendo to introduce these new additions to the more casual side of its audience on day one.

The original Switch was hard to come by when it released back in 2017, while the PS5 was absolutely plagued by stock shortages for almost an entire year after launch. To make matters worse, PS5 consoles were often snapped up by scalpers and resold at a higher cost.

At 150 million units sold, the Switch is close to overtaking the DS as Nintendo’s best-selling console.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said in an interview with Japanese newspaper The Sankei Shimbun that the company will continue to support the Nintendo Switch even after its successor is released.

There’s a lot we still don’t know about the Switch 2, but one sure bet is that it will sell like bonkers when it first launches. If there are any initial shortages whatsoever, scalpers will be looking to flip the new console on eBay and other sites for hundreds over the asking price.
