The fire was discovered by South Carolina sheriff's deputies, state park workers and first responders as they searched for a missing hiker.
The 1700s and 1800s John H. Goodwin and George Salmon homes, Whitehall, Earle Town House, Christ Church and Soby's downtown are the most historic structures.
