Staying true to its role as a cultural melting pot, the Hexi Corridor was where both Tibetan and Han Buddhism flourished. A notable site for Tibetan Buddhism is the Mati (Horse's Hoof) Temple Grottoes in Zhangye, famously linked to King Gesar, a legendary Tibetan figure whose mount is said to have left its footprint there.

The top of Myanmar's Shwe Sar Yan Pagoda, to the south-east of Mandalay, has collapsed following a huge earthquake. Onlookers can be heard screaming and shouting as part of the building crashed to the ground.

Located over 100 km from Hanoi, Co Le Pagoda in Nam Dinh is a unique Buddhist site featuring a blend of Eastern and Western architecture and home to one of Vietnam’s largest ancient bells.
