President Claudia Sheinbaum’s abilities to deal with a major crisis were on full display as President Trump’s tariffs on Mexican goods were paused for a month.

President Donald Trump announced Monday a one-month pause on 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico following conversations with each leader and pledges by both countries to reinforce their U.S. borders.

Both Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and Mexican President Sheinbaum said they had agreed to bolster border enforcement efforts in response to Trump's demand to crack down on immigration and drug smuggling.
