Perfectly befitting their up-and-down season, Manchester United took the scenic route (and then some) to reach the semifinals of the Europa League with a 5-4 victory (7-6 on aggregate) over Lyon.

Manchester United have booked their place in the Europa League semi-final after a scarcely believable period of extra time. Lyon, having gone down to 10 men, scored twice to give themselves a 6-4 lead but, as United had done before them, the French side capitulated.

Manchester United blew a two-goal lead and then came back from 4-2 down in extra time to secure a place in the Europa League semifinals.
