A Will County Sheriff’s Office employee was in court Friday facing charges of sexually assaulting a child, officials said. Daniel T. Herod, 41, appeared in a morning hearing, charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under 13 and criminal sexual assault of a family member under 18, according to Will County court records.

An employee in the Will County Sheriff's Office was arrested by agents from the Department of Homeland Security and charged with two counts of child sex assault, officials said Friday.

A Will County Sheriff's Office employee was taken into Homeland Security custody Thursday, the sheriff's office said in a social media post Friday morning.
