Jacob Murphy had a goal and an assist as Newcastle United moved third on the Premier League table by pounding Crystal Palace 5-0 at Selhurst Park on Wednesday.

Newcastle have won four of their five most recent fixtures at St James' Park, and have in fact won six of their last eight at home in the Premier League while losing twice. Opponents Crystal Palace were leading 2-0 against Manchester City by the 21st minute, but the scores were level by the 36th minute.

The Magpies boss is recovering from pneumonia which forced him to miss Sunday’s 4-1 win over Manchester United and Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will remain in charge for this match and Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa.
