The National Weather Service in Birmingham is scheduled to update its system, which will take all NOAA weather radios offline during the chance for severe weather and potential tornadoes on Tuesday. The upgrade will take their current system completely offline.

National Weather Services (NWS) offices across the country are managing a series of required updates for their radio partners.

However, the weather service cautioned that “all NOAA Radio transmitters maintained by NWS Birmingham will be off the air through the time of the install.” This includes these transmitters: Winfield, Oneonta, Birmingham, Anniston, Tuscaloosa, Demopolis, Selma, Montgomery, Auburn and Texasville.
