Fr Paul Murphy was stabbed by the teenager, who was then aged 16, at Renmore Barracks in Galway on 15 August 2024.

It is hoped the device, dubbed 'Weevil', will replace current mine-clearing methods that require a crew of three soldiers to risk their lives to carve a safe path through a minefield.
