After a winter storm dropped some snow on Connecticut Sunday, a second system is expected to bring a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain Wednesday night.

On Thursday, the weather service says the chance of precipitation is 100 percent, with the likelihood of it becoming all rain after noon and a high near 39. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible. Here is what Accuweather says about a “ a large storm moving from the Mississippi Valley to the East Coast.”

An approaching system could bring up to 5 inches of snow and ice, and disrupt morning and afternoon travel before a flip to rain in some places.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for portions of northwestern Connecticut from 6 a.m. Friday through 1 p.m.
