During the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States, the CBP One mobile application, a tool used by thousands of migrants to schedule appointments at the border, ceased to be operational.

Migrants who waited months to cross the U.S. border with Mexico learned their CBP One appointments had been canceled moments after Donald Trump was sworn in as president.

CBP One was used by the Biden administration to allow hundreds of thousands of migrants into the country to pursue asylum claims.

Her family arrived two years ago under former President Joe Biden’s program allowing asylum-seekers to enter the U.S. and then apply for permission to stay. Following his inauguration on January 20, Trump promptly shut down the CBP One app that processed these and other arrivals and has promised to “end asylum” during his presidency.

Musk has promised to trim $2 trillion from the federal budget under the helm of the agency, a sum that constitutes more than Congress has in discretionary spending. Doing so would practically defund the entire executive branch, which doles out funding for the military, national security, and all federal agencies.

"Every other state has provided resources and funding to help secure the border, and my border has been absent of that," Rep. Jenifer Johns said.
