Matthew Stafford wants to be paid an arm and a leg this offseason. The Rams’ quarterback is reportedly seeking a new contract worth $50 million per year, according to NFL Network’s Peter Schrager.
Multiple NFL insiders believe Matthew Stafford should make $50 million per year with a new deal, whether with the Rams or elsewhere.
Further complicating matters is the fact that should Stafford prefer to play for what he sees as his true worth, and should the Rams not want to pay it, a trade will have to be reached. Per Breer, the list of teams interested in Stafford include the Giants, Browns, Steelers and Raiders, among others.
There's been no official trade request and the Rams don't seem eager to ship off their Super Bowl-winning quarterback. But clearly there's a possibility Stafford ends up on the open market. And there would surely be plenty of interested parties who'd love to employ the 37-year-old next season.
