I-10 east from Gramercy in the Baton Rouge area to the Mississippi state line has remained closed since Tuesday after 10 inches of snow dropped on the New Orleans area. Officials have made strides in opening most of the city's other major roadways, but were still working to clear off ice from the popular thoroughfare.

On Tuesday afternoon, Louisiana State Police reported a state trooper was rear-ended by an alleged impaired driver, while stopped at a red light. The driver, who police say shouldn't have been on the road in the first place, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The trooper involved in the accident was unharmed.

A Black man died after a beating by the police in 2019. The assault “demonstrated serious failures,” the Justice Department said, including improper supervision.

Law enforcement is asking residents to avoid being on the roads all of Tuesday beginning Monday night.
