Years of erosion had depleted the shoreline of sand and the beach renourishment effort was designed to restore the area of much-needed beach.

As a rare winter storm moves closer to Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, school and county officials are preparing for ice that could make it dangerous to drive on the road.

A Winter Storm Warning in effect for most of the First Coast, including all of Southeast Georgia. All of Duval County, Clay County and western Putnam County are now included in this warning. This goes from Tuesday 7 p.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday.
