Wei, the CEO of the Taiwanese chipmaker, said during an earnings call that Phoenix will become the site of an “independent leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing cluster.” TSMC has invested $100 billion in US chipmaking and aims to start producing 2nm or “even more advanced process technology” at its Phoenix plants by the end of this decade.
