Tesco has announced plans to cut about 400 jobs as part of plans to "simplify" the business. The supermarket giant said jobs will be affected at its bakeries, mobile phone shops and its head office in Welwyn Garden City,

Managers in its head office and Tesco Mobile phone shops, as well as staff at some of its in-store bakeries, will be affected.

Tesco is the latest grocer to cut countless jobs. Rival Sainsbury’s unveiled plans to cut 3,000 jobs last week as part of a similar push to ‘simplify’. Morrisons is also axing more than 200 jobs, while Asda is cutting 13 regional managers.
