Daniil Medvedev's exuberant celebration after beating Arthur Fils was not his normal reaction to winning a tennis match.

Daniil Medvedev is through to his third consecutive Indian Wells semi-final. World no. 6 faced the young Frenchman Arthur Fils in the quarter-final and prevailed 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 in two hours and 25 minutes.

Medvedev was dragged into a decider by Fils, but eventually came through in a thrilling finale. And the Russian was in buoyant mood after booking his spot in the last four.

(Reuters) -Twice champion Iga Swiatek thrashed Czech Karolina Muchova 6-1 6-1 to reach the Indian Wells quarter-finals on Tuesday before men's fifth seed Daniil Medvedev moved into the last eight with a 6-4 6-0 win over American Tommy Paul.

At Indian Wells, Medvedev is chasing a very prestigious milestone. If he manages to lift the trophy on Sunday, he will become the first tennis player under the age of 30 to have won all six Masters 1000 on hard courts.
