The Detroit Tigers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Busch Stadium, moving to 33-17 on the season. That marks a historic accomplishment

ST. LOUIS – The Detroit Tigers hadn’t lost a series opener since Houston back in late April. They were 13-2 coming into their three-game series with the Cardinals. Now they’re 13-3, mostly thanks to Sonny Gray, who apparently likes to pitch against the Tigers, and stifled them as St. Louis won 11-4.

Monday's game is set to restart at 9:15 p.m. CT, weather permitting. Hopefully, Mother Nature cooperates enough to get another two innings in.

Jake Rogers will pick up right where he left off. The Detroit Tigers catcher had been scheduled to catch ace Tarik Skubal on April 8 when he injured himself in the batting cage before the game. Dillon Dingler took over for that game and the next six Skubal starts that followed.
