The mountain range straddling California and Nevada has had mostly warm storms this winter. Finally, a cold one has piled up multiple feet of snow.

A powerful winter storm has dropped more than 30 inches of snow on the mountains, creating ideal skiing conditions.

The storm is affecting major transportation routes, including highways in the Greater Lake Tahoe Area and Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties.
