After a season turnaround never seen before in the toughest conference in college baseball, Florida Gators head coach Kevin O’Sullivan has been passed up for the SEC Coach of the Year award in favor of Texas’ Jim Schlossnagle.

Saturday’s game will likely hold more significance for Tennessee than Vanderbilt, as the Commodores appear reasonably assured of earning a top-eight national seed for the NCAA Tournament, which would ensure home-field advantage in Regional and Super Regional competition.

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy was named SEC player of the year Monday. Aloy is batting .358 with 18 home runs, 17 doubles and 58 RBI. Batting second in the Razorbacks’ lineup, Aloy has a 1.117 OPS and leads the SEC with 82 hits and 72 runs.
