The United Kingdom appears set to host the 2035 Women's World Cup after FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Thursday described its interest as the "one valid bid" for the tournament.

While FIFA is scheduled to announce Women's World Cup hosts next year, the organization's president said the U.S. is alone in its bid for 2031.

Per the Fifa rotation rules, the 2035 Women’s World Cup has to be hosted in Europe or Africa. Last week Spain’s football federation president Rafael Louzan said they were ‘working on’ a joint bid alongside Portugal and Morocco. However, the deadline to submit bids has now passed and Spain, Portugal and Morocco haven’t put their names into the ring.

The U.S. bid and a British bid for 2035 are the only ones on the board, making it all but certain they'll win.

The Women's World Cup is expected to return to the US in 2031 for the first time since the 2003 edition after the country also hosted in 1999. There are also changes coming to boost women's soccer at the 2028 LA Olympics.
