Multi-frame generation has real potential to improve the gaming experience on cheaper laptops, but Nvidia’s RTX 5090 laptop GPU isn’t the huge leap you’re waiting for.

In advance of next week's GTC and GDC trade shows, Nvidia discussed Blackwell availability, where it specifically stated that it has shipped twice as many Blackwell GPUs in the first five weeks as it did Ada GPUs for the first five weeks in 2022 — but that's effectively comparing only the RTX 4090 against four RTX 50-series GPUs launched this year.

I’ve been testing the RTX 5090 laptop GPU in Razer’s new Blade 16 laptop, which Nvidia is using as a showcase for its top-tier mobile card. My time with it has been more limited than I’d hoped, since my first review unit exhibited some strange graphical anomalies and was prone to blue-screen crashes during basic productivity tasks.
