Repeated waves of thunderstorms will pose risks to lives and property through the weekend in the same areas that were blasted by deadly storms on Wednesday and Wednesday night.
Tornados have been reported in at least eight states this week, after powerful storms swept across the country.
Strong thunderstorms will move across the watch area and could produce tornadoes with gusts up to 75 miles per hour and rise up to 1.5 inches in diameter.
Forecasters issued some of their rarest and most extreme alerts on Wednesday as they warned a powerful storm system would stall over the central part of the country.
The National Weather Service says a "multi-day catastrophic and potentially historic" storm is expected to impact multiple states. Thousands have lost power in Missouri and other states, and a person was killed Wednesday evening in the southeast part of the state.
