The Trump administration is investigating potential civil rights violations at two universities and a high school sports league that allowed transgender athletes to compete on women's teams, the Education Department said Thursday.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday at the White House that bars transgender athletes from participating in girls’ and women’s sports, just months after the San Jose State women’s volleyball team found itself in the middle of a national firestorm on the issue.

SJSU, the University of Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts high school athletic association are cited as violators of the Trump Administration’s Feb. 5 executive order banning transgender athletes.

San José State University President Cynthia Teniente-Matson told Fox News Digital the school will cooperate with a federal investigation into potential Title IX violations.
