Paul Skenes pitched like the ace he is against the New York Mets' star-studded lineup on Monday, allowing just one run on six hits with six strikeouts in six innings. However, the Pittsburgh Pirates' bullpen and offense came up short in the 4-3 loss.

The Mets answered back in the fourth inning against Skenes. Nimmo led off the inning with a line drive double, and then center fielder Jeff McNeil, swinging on the first pitch, followed with a one-out double to right field to tie the game 1-1.
