North Carolina's coast was the "winner" for this winter storm, with parts of the Outer Banks getting 9 inches of snow.

The winter storm moving across the United States, bringing frigid temperatures to the East Coast, is causing some delays and cancellations in Hampton Roads. A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina from 5 p.

There’s still a good amount of snow on the ground along the Outer Banks Wednesday morning. North Carolina Department of Transportation web cams are showing just some of the conditions drivers are finding along coastal roadways.

Bitter cold is to be expected for the rest of the week, as well. Daily highs will be in the 20s through Wednesday, with early morning lows in the single digits to mid-teens.

A snowstorm is underway Tuesday night at the North Carolina Outer Banks with even Wilmington to see 5 inches of snow, officials said.
