Over the winter, the Mets hired Desi Druschel away from the New York Yankees as an assistant pitching coach. Having an assistant allows the Mets to further share the ever-evolving information with their pitchers. Druschel’s presence also takes some responsibilities off of Hefner.

Kodai Senga was not at the peak of his abilities in his start on Tuesday, but still looked promising for the year despite the Mets' eventual loss.

When the Marlins reached Senga for two runs in the first, he assisted via meatballs. Leadoff man Xavier Edwards doubled on a fastball over the heart of the plate and one pitch later Kyle Stowers crushed a home run on a middle-middle heater.
