Jurors decided this morning not to extend Eric Thompson’s sentence for second-degree murder to life without the possibility of parole.

Thompson was accused of shooting acupuncturist Jon Tokuhara in 2022 at his Waipahu clinic. On January 12, 2022, Tokuhara’s mother found his body shot to death. Approximately six months prior to Tokuhara’s murder, Thompson learned that his wife

Jurors in the Eric Thompson murder trial continued deliberations in deciding if he should receive an extended sentence or life without parole following his guilty verdict. Closing arguments were held on Thursday,

Thompson’s first trial in 2023 ended in a mistrial when the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict. This time around, the jury found Thompson guilty of murder in the second degree. He was also found guilty of a firearm charge. Shortly after the verdict was read, the state’s motion to revoke bail was granted and Thompson was taken into custody.
