We went on the dinner and sunset cruise. The lake, as always, was spectacular and sunset in Emerald Bay was beautiful. Dinner service and food was poor. There were not enough servers for the dining…Full review by mhoshiko

We decided to give this cruise a try, since we were staying nearby and wanted to see more of Lake Tahoe than what we could from the shore. We were glad we did. The tour took a couple of hours. There …Full review by 840williaml

According to John Deere's website, "the 500-passenger, three-deck boat combines the nostalgic paddle wheel experience with the safety and convenience of John Deere power. Twin ...engines provide main propulsion and [a separate] engine hydraulically drives the paddle wheel." I found another website (can't vouch for its veracity) which stated that roughly 1/3 of the ship's propulsion is from the sternwheel. But this is not what some would call an "authentic paddlewheeler" in that the boat is not maneuvered entirely by the sternwheel.
Q:
Can you bring bottled water with you on this boat?
A:
Hello, I brought water with me and no one mentioned there was a problem. It is a really fun trip. We took the evening event and we returned around 9:30.
Q:
What is the best place to sit on the Dixie
A:
On a nice day up top is best. It was freezing that day so we stayed inside on the bottom deck for most of the trip.
Q:
What age is a child versus an adult?
A:
We had teenagers (15 & 16yrs.) in our family group. I would only be guessing (11yrs old)?
