No! There is a charge for admission and I think it is $13-$15 dollars per person. The money is used to help with the upkeep of the home. Well worth the price!
Reservations are not needed. If you are touring several homes, make sure to buy your tickets at the visitors center because you will save a bit on the ticket price.

You can see a video about the area which is quite well done and interesting and the people in the center can also help you decide which homes you might select to tour. The cost is as stated $15 for one house and $36 for 3 houses.
