Hallo, We used train and got all day all zones ticket which included also the Zurich Tram and trolley . That was the best value for us . You need to get your train tickets combined accordingly for one way or return and think of the time and transport you will use to get to the train station and back to where you staying . Ticket machine are useful if you’ve used them previously but is you have not better go to the ticket office and explain exactly from where and what time you want start your journey and where and what time you wish to return. That’s the best way to get combo tickets and works always the cheapest. Trains in Zurich in general are expensive but they are on time to the minutes so don’t take chances if you are late 1min you will miss the train ! Give your self a time to find the platform and train especially if you are with kids! Getting the tickets 1 day before will give you peace of mind to plan properly and enjoy your journey stress free !
