Phuket is quite a large island, Thailand’s largest in fact. So it all depends on which part of the island you will be based from. It takes just over an hour to get from the north of the island to the south of the island (without traffic!). But if you are staying at the southern part of the island near Kata, Karon or Patong, then Nai Harn is lovely and about a 15 min drive away and 2-3 minutes further along you have Rawai beach, but don’t be fooled by the word ‘Beach’. It’s not really a place that you can put down a towel and get some sun. It’s basically the ‘car park’ for the long tail fishing boats that will take you to various islands. The water and view from Rawai beach is gorgeous but not somewhere you can really spend the day at. If you like your water sports then defo grab a long tail boat from Rawai beach and head to Coral Island (about 10-15 minutes away by boat). They have plenty of water/sea based activities over there. Ps Stay away from Patong beach. It’s horrible. Tourists have destroyed it and continue to do so. Loud music, litter and lots of alcohol type of beach.
